Cabernet Sauvignon grapes

We read that this winery was noted for its Pinot Noir, so we wanted to check it out. We found not only some nice Pinots, but also several other varietals that were delightful. We especially liked the "Heritage Reserve" wines.

Tasting hours: Daily - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

1998 Chardonnay -- Sonoma Valley
A nicely balanced wine with a soft, buttery texture. Bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits carry over into the refreshing taste.

1999 Chardonnay -- Carneros
This wine is a new release. An almost minty flavor with a lovely buttery finish. Very mellow.

1997 Merlot -- North Coast
Aroma of ripe cherries with full-bodied flavor of blackberries. Very smooth on the palate.

"Heritage Reserve" Limited Releases

1998 Chardonnay -- Carneros
A buttery/apple aroma gave way to citrus fruit flavors. A full-bodied texture and crisp finish.

1998 Pinot Noir -- Carneros
Nice fruity aroma with luscious flavors of cranberry and black cherry. Hints of lavender and tobacco. A very nice wine that will age gracefully.

1997 Merlot -- Carneros
Yummmmm -- the scent of chocolate-covered cherries immediately wafted up from the glass and carried straight over into the flavor. A great Merlot. One of Wine and Spirits Magazine's top 10 merlots.

1997 Cabernet Sauvignon -- Sonoma Valley
A very nice wine with ripe fruit flavors of blackberry and chocolate. A very supple texture. Will age well. Wine Enthusiast magazine chose this wine as one of the top 100 wines of the year 2000 and gave it 94 points.

Other wines produced by this winery include: Sauvignon Blanc and Rouge de Noirs Brut (a sparkling Pinot Noir).
