Grapes produced by this winery are used by a number of winemakers, thus providing visitors with a broad range of wines to taste. On our visit, we limited our tastings to the wines bottled under the Del Rio label.

Tasting hours: Daily from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Listed wines and/or vintages may no longer be available. Contact the winery for the most recent releases.

2003 Pinot Gris
Fruity, citrusy notes with a soft feel in the mouth. A good sipping wine -- especially with soft cheeses.

2001 Merlot
Blackberry and raspberry, with a hint of black cherries, in the nose. The berry flavor (especially raspberry) carried over into the mouth. A bit of licorice on the finish.

2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
Berries and chocolate in the aroma. A very flavorful wine with mild tannins, light body. Drinkable now, but will probably improve in 3-5 years.

2001 Claret
A blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Alcohol content was noticeable (14.5%). Fresh berries in the nose and mouth.

2001 Cabernet Franc
This grape is usually used in blends, but it was quite good as a stand-alone. We noted plums, black cherries, and a touch of tobacco in the aroma and flavor. A smooth and mellow wine that went well with blue cheese.

We also tried a Port wine made from Syrah grapes and bottled by Silvan Ridge. We enjoyed the candied cherry taste. Semi-sweet chocolates brought out the flavors more intensely.

Although the Del Rio wines we tried were quite good, we did feel they were a bit pricy.
